About Us
Run almost entirely by volunteers, the St Vincent de Paul Society is a worldwide organisation of lay Catholics who express their faith through service to the poor. The Society has been operating in South Africa since 1856. The SVDP Walmer conference was formed in June 1950 and is serves the PE Diocese; we currently have 10 members. The Collegium students and members of the parish regularly assist at our Saturday morning monthly food distributions.
What we do
– Monthly food distribution to 130 selected families from the Walmer Township.
– Financial assistance to pre-school children at St Anne’s, selected from our 130 families.
– Visitation and assistance to urban families who find themselves in destitute circumstances.
– Distribution of clothing to various organisations in the Walmer Township.
Our Education Wish List
Currently we assist preschool children attending St Anne’s Educare. Ideally, we would like to be able to continue this assistance throughout their school careers, all the way to University.

All you need to join the Society is a strong desire to follow Christ through service to those in need, and so bear witness to His compassionate and liberating love.
Meetings are held every third Tuesday of the month at 17:30 (Upstairs in the church hall).
Distributions are done on the first Saturday of the month at 08:00 (in the church hall).

Benefits to you as a donor
All donations to SVDP (up to 10% of your taxable income for companies and Individuals) are Tax deductible. You will be provided with a Tax certificate at the end of every tax year to submit with your tax return. As a company, all monies spent on this cause may be allocated to the Social Economic Development element of your BBBEE rating.
Your donation makes you part of our Society, as your assistance helps us to feed and clothe 140 families, and educate some of these vulnerable children.
