On Thursday we keep the feast of the Transfiguration, commemorating the mystery described in the Gospels in which the divine splendour of Christ, God and man, was revealed to a select group of Our Lord’s disciples. This event, which strengthened them in preparation for the trial of the Passion, assures us too of the unconquerable hope and true life which are offered each of us in Christ: “For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, not depth, nor anything else in creation, will be able to separate us fro the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39).
