“Garland for Our Lady” – Friday 14 August 2026 at 17:30 in the church
In preparation for the Solemnity of the Assumption this Musical Meditation reflects on the dignity of our Blessed Mother. This Musical Oratory, a Garland for our Lady, presents a spiritual bouquet of music dedicated to the Mother of God.
Sung by a choir, this Musical Oratory features music and hymns from the great Catholic choral tradition. It is not strictly a liturgical service, but rather a spiritual concert, interspersed with meditations on the Blessed Virgin Mary by our St John Henry Newman, Doctor of the Church. Leaflets are provided at the door to assist you in following along with the meditations and choral music as well as help you participate in congregational singing. This year, our programme includes music by Michael Praetorius, Franz Liszt, Edward Elgar, Leo Delibes and Mariano Garau.
As is customary, it is followed by celebratory refreshments in the hall. Please RSVP to the parish office by Tuesday 11 August.
