Lenten Oratory 2026

“The fruits of the Spirit …  love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control – are the result of cooperation between grace and our freedom. These fruits always express the creativity of the person, in which ‘faith works through love’ (cf. Gal 5:6), sometimes in a surprising and joyful way. Not everyone in the Church can be an apostle, not everyone can be a prophet, not everyone can be an evangelist, not everyone; but all of us, without distinction, can and must be charitable, patient, humble workers for peace”

Pope Francis, General Audience, 27th November 2024

On the Tuesdays of Lent we meet for our annual Lenten Oratory to which all are most warmly invited for a time of prayerful preparation for Easter and for Christian fellowship in the spirit of St Philip Neri. This year we continue to reflect on the “fruits of the Holy Spirit” (cf. Gal. 5:22-23) and the topic of the first talk is “love”. Confessions will be heard from 17:00 until 17:30. The veneration of the relic of St Philip is at 17:20, and the talk starts at 17:30 and is followed by silent and vocal prayers and chants. There follows recreation in the hall with bring & share snacks and drinks; we finish around 18:30. Do join us if you can and do bring a friend!
