Social Outreach
Social Outreach is integral to our Catholic ethos
The parish of St Bernadette supports the needs of the greater community through a number of charities and projects throughout the year. Many of these are managed by the Walmer chapter of the Society of St Vincent de Paul, whose members are parishioners at St Bernadette’s. (Read more about the SVDP here). Groceries are collected and distributed monthly to 100 families in Walmer, with an additional Christmas Appeal for grocery and other items in November. Clothing and blanket drives take place throughout the year, all of which rely on the generosity and support of our parish community. In addition, we run a virtual soup kitchen that provides soup packs to the poor and hungry who arrive at our door daily seeking assistance.
